[Reno is chewing on his lower lip as all these thoughts and those damn feelings boil up inside him, and he hates every second of it.
This is why he doesn't do relationships; this is why he normally sticks to just fucking around.

I don't know. I'd feel like a hypocrite for telling him that he can't sleep with someone, given my own history.
[Zoro's comment makes him stop for a moment and stare ahead, and that ugly twist he feels in his chest is all he really needs to confirm what Zoro is suspecting.
He bits his lip again and then looks up, looking for someone to refill his damn glass. He needs that drink right now.]

[He's never had anyone who loved him. He never had anyone he cared about, until Rude. So the idea of Rude falling for someone else, developing feelings or acting on them .. it suddenly makes Reno feel things he never thought he would feel. Including maybe the fear of losing the person he cares the most about.]

Think you can do complicated over a long period of time?

[Reno chuckles, though it's only halfheartedly, but he's glad that Zoro gets what he tried to say. At least he hopes so.]

( He's not an expert on relationships by any definition, so this conversation is really akin to the blind leading the blind. Or bros figuring shit out together, maybe. )

What do you mean, your own history? Are there other people you feel anything close to what you feel about him for?

( He sighs, shaking his head. ) Look, all I'm saying is you're going to hurt yourself keeping all of this in. Trust me on that. ( Yes, this part he's talking from experience about. Though truth be told, he hasn't found a resolution, either. But he imagines it's a much different situation. He's not officially anything to Nami, besides her crewmate. )

Mm. Maybe. I'm used to pain. ( He grins wryly, recognizing how dramatic his own words sound. He gestures at the bartender for another drink for himself, and for some water for Reno.

Once the next round is on the table before them, he tilts his head and fixes the older man with a thoughtful look. )

[Reno huffs again, turning his empty glass in his hand to have something to focus on and not having to look at Zoro.
Sure. There is someone he might have feelings for, but .. he's never going to act on them, nor is he going to tell anyone.]

I meant cause I always slept around. Couldn't really imagine being in a relationship, so I just .. took people home, or went with them all the time.
Reason why Rude never told me 'bout his feelings before or acted on my attempts of seducing him is cause he didn't want to be just another notch on my bedpost. Like he would've ever been just that ..

[He waves at the bartender for an actual refill, but until that happens, he at least does nurse the water for a bit.

( Zoro nods slowly in understanding. He'd known a little about Reno's past before coming here, but the revelation of what Reno thinks it means about what he can or can't ask for in his relationship is new. )

I don't think you'd be asking him "not to fuck someone". You'd be asking him not to fuck someone who he might have feelings for. It's different, right? You want his...romantic feelings all to yourself, or whatever.

( Zoro gestures, speaking like he's trying to figure things out himself with every word. Maybe it's how he feels, wanting Nami's whole heart to himself. It might dull the sting of knowing that he isn't the only one that shares her bed, especially not here.

But then he thinks of Sanji, thinks of all the moments the three of them have spent together in the last few months, and he isn't sure of what he wants anymore. )

Mm. Yeah. Physical wounds are easier to deal with.

( At the protest, Zoro chuckles, carefully pushing the glass of water closer towards his friend. )

Yeah .. yeah, i guess that's one way to put it,
[he nods, for the first time feeling like he understands a little. At least, why it bothers him so much with Tifa in comparison to anyone else.]
Though .. still unfair comparison. He doesn't need to worry that i develop feelings for anyone else, or start a relationship other than the one with him. He was the one who was always looking for emotional connections. I couldn't care less back then,
[and still even now, most of the time. The times he's sleeping with others here is for fun, or for the game. And he'd stop if Rude asked him to do so.
And that thought alone, as it slowly sinks in, scares Reno.]

Yeah. Bit of bandages, bit of materia, maybe a potion, and you're good to go.
There's no shit like that for emotions. Fuck, I knew they always make things complicated, I knew why i stayed away from them.

[Reno rolls his eyes, but he keeps drinking his water, until the glass is empty.]
